The iEco lab welcomed the first of four postdoctoral researchers, Dr. Jason Gleditsch, in January 2020. Jason completed his Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Environmental Science at the University of Illinois, where his research focused on the rapid evolution and community ecology of frugivorous birds introduced to Oahu. Jason is broadly interested in evolutionary and community ecology, and he has joined the lab to work with Dr. Helmus and Dr. Behm on the Caribbean Macrosystems project. His research will attempt to understand how anthropogenic movement of species influences the relationships predicted by island biogeography theory, species coexistence, and patterns of beta diversity.
