Stefani, a PhD student of Dr. Helmus, was recently was awarded “PhD Student Entomologist of the Year” for her presentation to the Entomological Society of Pennsylvania (ESP)!
This society is almost 100 years old and includes a diverse group of entomologists – both amateur and professional. ESP has an annual meeting where the group comes together to share research and relevant information, which Stefani presented at for the first time on December 3, 2022. She presented on her research focusing on the insect communities that utilize Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) honeydew. The title of her presentation was “Spotted Lanternfly honeydew: a novel resource for Hymenoptera communities”. She was met with great feedback and questions from the audience and was awarded as “PhD Student Entomologist of the Year” the next day for her experience with entomology in the field.
